H — The Higgs Scale

ELECTROWEAK VACUUM · v ≈ 246 GeV

The electroweak vacuum sets the mass scale for everything below it. The Higgs mechanism is presently a potential written down by hand — the ICT interest is whether the vacuum structure admits a constructive geometric restatement rather than a fitted polynomial.

Governing Equation — Higgs Potential

V(φ) = μ²(φφ) + λ(φφ)²

Current Problems at the H Scale

(really rough working list — draft, to be refined)
  • Hierarchy problem — why is the Higgs mass so light against the Planck scale?
  • Vacuum metastability — is our vacuum the true one?
  • Origin of Yukawa couplings and the fermion mass spectrum
  • Elementary or composite? No geometric picture currently exists
Scope: ICT scope note: watching brief. The constructive program enters below, at QWD.
